What is a 'finished' work? What distinguishes process from realisation? Via unsung sketches, archived documentation from site visits, preliminary models and intermediary experiments, 'In the Beginning' offers a rare and sustained insight into process rather than product.

Featuring preparatory pieces from nine ECFA artists, using sculpture, photography, textiles and painting, 'In the Beginning' presents work made without a gallery (or even a viewer) in mind: rather, for experimentation, for conceptualisation, and for its own sake too.
